Genesis issued Foxtrot and Pink Floyd produced Atom Heart Mother. Such major breakthrough was followed with punk and rap. In the seventies the planet was vibrating with quality music. The charts were looking good in Italy with Gentle Giant, Van der Graaf Generator, King Crimson, Genesis, Emerson Lake and Palmer and Jethro Tull.
Even minor bands like Deep Purple had their own orchestral projects. After the Beatles there was interest in the integration of European music into rock and roll format. The band that signed for European music was Henry Cow. Art Bears with Dagmar Krause served as model for European music from Magma to Univers Zero. Suddenly quality bands sprung up from Finland to Belgium. Germany delivered its electronic vision of the musical sphere while France experimented with merry medieval sound.
Bands like Gentle Giant, ELP or Genesis clearly displayed superior classical musical education onstage with so much oboes, cello and madrigal. The Moog synthesizer and Mellotron were introduced among the growing equipment of the keyboard player.
Pluto is known as the Planet bringing about abrupt changes. This planet climbed to Coma Berenices constellation in the seventies, while dwelling in Bootes around 1980. The motion of the planets defines the astronomic zodiac. Since Pluto is still officially a planet, this makes Coma Berenices a zodiacal constellation. Bootes and Coma Berenices are zodiacal constellations as soon as Pluto is a planet. The quality of Pluto as planet or otherwise classified has been discussed since the first large transneptunian discoveries.
Quality music was generally referred to as sympho rock. Bill Bruford on drums, Robert Fripp on guitar, Keith Emerson on keyboards and Chris Squire on bass were among the experimenting as well as best selling musicians of the time. Musical education walked side by side with experimentation. A new course was cutting its long-playing soundflow
in racial initiation. Pluto climbed its stairway to heaven.
The advent of Pluto in Coma Berenices happened in the early seventies. After occasional trips back to Virgo, Pluto entered Bootes towards the eighties. Coma Berenices was named after Veronica’s hair. Hair was long in the sixties as well as in the seventies.
There are surely other exceptions besides music as concerns Pluto in Coma Berenices. Pluto brings about unsettling changes often manifesting as war. The longhaired hippies were sent to fight in distant lands. Roger Waters from Pink Floyd is a war child.
Sexual freedom was an attempt at resolving pressure as imposed by an oppressing government. What is a really amazing feature of the time is the way everyone was naturally individual. A hippy is someone who rejects the established culture; advocates extreme liberalism in politics and lifestyle. This word processor did not recognize “hippy”. Bill Gates may have been one, but his Words are not.

Pink Floyd and Pluto in Coma Berenices

Coma Berenices is a zodiacal constellation just above Virgo. Its name can be also traduced as Veronica’s hair in an obscure allusion to wiping off Jesus Christ’s sweat prior to crucifixion by a supposed Veronica and her hair or handkerchief. One of the representations of Veronica can be observed in the San Alvise church near the first Hebrew ghetto in Venice, Italy. The obscure painting on the right of the ancona is by Tiepolo. Whether Veronica is a myth or reality we don’t know but it might be that the constellation has something to do with hair emanations. At any rate Pink Floyd had their own emanations in the years when Pluto entered Coma Berenices from Leo. If the sphinx constellation of Leo and MIKAL or Regulus started the musical revolution with the Beatles, the turn of the tide was on Pink Floyd. Their first albums were issued hand in hand with Pluto entering Coma Berenices. This event happens once in fur generations.
The legacy of this generation is The Piper at the Gates of Dawn (1967) and A Saucerful of Secrets (1968). Browsing through the seventies we find Gentle Giant, Genesis, King crimson, Van der Graaf Generator, Emerson Lake and Palmer as well as Pink Floyd.
The sweet timeless mixture of classic, jazz, psychodelia, rock and blues resulted unique.
Sexual awareness awakened along with a new feminist movement. The students were protesting against war. Carlos Castaneda inspired the hammer that crushed the glass house from within. Gentle Giant followed with Free Hand and In a Glass House. Journey to Ixtlan was one of his early classics, besides the Eagle’s Gift and the Tales of Power. In his last book Carlos Castaneda distills the essence of all religions by transcending them.
One of the rediscoveries of the time was I Ching. The Pink Floyd dedicate "Chapter 24" to the Chinese book of changes while Castaneda describes the principle in Eagle’s Gift.
Joni Mitchell sings of diagrams 1 and 29 in her Hejira. Long hair was commonplace.
Atom Heart Mother by Pink Floyd is hardly paired by Tarkus by ELP or Foxtrot by Genesis. It is probably the finest work those years have left to the sea of consciousness.
